The Lee Playhouse stages it's production of Biloxi Blues on February 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 & 20, 2016, at 8 p.m. and February 7, 14 & 21, 2016, at 3 p.m. In this sequel to Simon’s play, “Biloxi Blues,” young New Yorker Eugene Jerome enlists in the Army during the last year of World War II. Eugene is sent to basic training at Biloxi, Mississippi where he must live with a variety of soldiers from all walks of life while also enduring the whims of a hard-drinking drill sergeant. Army Community Services Financial Readiness Program kicks off Military Saves Week on February 22, 2016. Join ACS and Garrison Commander, Col. Brooks, at the PX from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. for the official Proclamation signing of Military Saves Week. There will be financial representatives on hand with plenty of information to handout. Don't forget to take the Saver Pledge while there! The Saver Pledge encompasses individual military community members making a pledge to save money, reduce debt and build wealth over time. Come out and meet other archery enthusiasts and learn some of their skills. Fort Lee's Family and MWR Outdoor Recreation will be hosting several 3-D Archery Shoot Competitions in 2016. The 3-D archery shoots will be held February 27, March 26, April 30 & May 1 (the Spring Fling weekend) , May 8 (Ninth Annual Bowfishing Shootout), June 25, July 23 (Norman Cruz Memorial), August 20 and September 24; registration is 9 a.m. - noon. Cost is $10 per adult, $8 per Fort Lee permit holders, $5 per youth (13 - 17 years old) and $3 per cub (12 years old and under). Leisure Travel Services (LTS) is now open for service in the Warrior Zone (Building 3650 on C Avenue). LTS offers discounted vacation packages and world class cruises. Army Community Services’ Financial Readiness Program will host free classes throughout the month. Family and MWR Bowling Center invites all youth to join the Youth Bowling League. The Youth Bowling League is 9 a.m. on Saturdays, September through May. Youth may sign up at the Bowling Center now. Fort Lee's Family and MWR Auto Crafts Shop is here to service you minor auto needs. This is a self-help auto repair facility that allows authorized patrons to perform minor repairs to their vehicles. There are seven bay spaces, four vehicle lifts, tools and a trained instructor on hand to provide assistance. Ready, aim & splatter! Fort Lee’s Family and MWR Outdoor Recreation invites you to play a game of paintball. Rental packages are only $25 for groups of 6 to 9 people. The rental package includes a marker (gun), hopper, CO2 Tank & Fill-ups, mask, loader case & 500 paintballs! All players must be 12 or older to play. Liability waivers must be signed prior to participation. Personal markers are welcome but will be calibrated to field rules.   Paintball is open Monday through Friday, by appointment only. Family and MWR Sports invites you to join our weekly fitness classes. Weekly fitness classes include Aerobics, Boot Camp, Core/Cardio, CrossFit (in the Post Field House), High Intensity Training (HIIT), House of Pain, Pilates & Yoga, Spinning, Spinning/Strength, Yoga (Iyengar) and Zumba. Classes are generally $4 per class unless otherwise noted. A fitness card may be purchased for most classes. Fitness cards are $20 for a10-class punch card. House of Pain is a FREE class, however, you must be at least 18 years of age and complete a Microfit Fitness Assessment prior to attending class. Yoga (Iyengar) is FREE for Active Duty Soldiers and Spouses of deployed Soldiers. Classes may be cancelled due to inclement weather or if minimum class participation levels are not achieved. You must be 16 years of age and an eligible Family and MWR fitness facility patron to attend fitness classes with the exception of House of Pain (You must be 18 years of age). The Family and MWR Fort Lee Community Library invites you to join us every second Tuesday of the month, from 5 – 6 pm for our Read 2 Rover hour with Caring Canines of Richmond. Come out and enjoy an evening of reading with, or showing picture books to, certified therapy dogs from Caring Canines. Caring Canines is an all-volunteer therapy dog group that encourages children’s literacy through interaction with the dogs. Open to all ages, come by and pet the dogs. This is a free program.
