“Eins, Zwei, Gesoffen!” Enjoy German food, German music and hoist a mug and shout: “Eins, zwei, gesoffen!” (“one, two, I’ve drunk it!”) at Fort Lee’s annual fun-fueled Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 25, 5 - 10 p.m., at the Post Field House. Schenickelfritz and the Oompahs will entertain all night with music sure to get your feet tapping while the Hirschjaeger Dancers perform the authentic German folk dances. Are you ready for some football and more? Family and MWR Overtime Sports Bar is opening every Friday from 4 - 10 p.m., starting September 5. This sports bar features flat screen TVs, dart boards, a pool table, food and drinks. Come out and join the Fort Lee community in celebrating the re-opening of our community sports bar. The Regimental Club has several delicious selections from which to choose. Child, Youth & School (CYS) Services has several immediate openings in full day child care for preschool age children. The Part Day Preschool program also has openings in both its AM and PM sessions as well as its 2-day and 3-day programs. There are also immediate openings for Full day childcare for Strong Beginnings Pre-K. This is for children ages 4-5. In the Strong Beginnings Pre-K Program, there is an emphasis on kindergarten readiness skills. The teaching methods used will resemble those of a kindergarten classroom. Right Arm Night has moved to the HideAway! The HideAway now hosts Right Arm Night every 3rd Thursday of the month at 4 p.m., starting this month. Right Arm Night is a chance for bosses to bring their "right arm" out to relax and build camaraderie off duty. Drink Specials and FREE snacks will be available with FREE pool for your enjoyment. Family and MWR Sports department will host an Intramural Football Skills Competition at Williams Stadium, 6 p.m., October 23. Any companies interested in participating must complete an entry form and return it to the Sports Office, by October 23. The entry forms are located at MacLaughin Fitness Center and Clark Fitness Center front desks. There is no charge to join in on the physical fun. Fort Lee's Family and MWR Outdoor Recreation Center offers Biking in Battlefield Park April through September (Scheduled Dates), weather permitting (No Holidays). Learn trails on group rides. Bring your bike, or rent one of ours. Bike rentals are $5 per day! Meet trail guide with the rental bikes at Mahone Avenue Battlefield parking area. The 2014 Biking Schedule is as follows:  September 24. Start time is 4:30 p.m., launch time is 5 p.m. This is a FREE program as long as you are accompanied by the trail guide. If you wish to bike through Battlefield Park on your own you will need a Battlefield Park Pass (ages 17 and up), unless you are in PT uniform. Family and MWR Bowling Center invites all youth to join the Youth Bowling League. The Youth Bowling League is 9 a.m. on Saturdays, September through May. Fort Lee's Family and MWR Auto Crafts Shop is here to service you minor auto needs. This is a self-help auto repair facility that allows authorized patrons to perform minor repairs to their vehicles. There are seven bay spaces, four vehicle lifts, tools and a trained instructor on hand to provide assistance. You can get an oil change, rent bay space & equipment and get your tires changed & balanced. Cost varies per service. The Auto Crafts Shop is located in Building 9035 on Battle Drive. We got tickets to the game! Family and MWR Leisure Travel Services sells professional sports tickets all year long. We have Baseball (Baltimore Orioles, Washington Nationals & Jacksonville Suns), Football (U.S. Navy & Jacksonville Knights), Basketball (Washington Wizards & Washington Mystics), Nascar (Richmond, Atlanta, Talladega & Daytona), Hockey (Washington Capitals) and local sports (Richmond Squirrels) tickets. The Family and MWR Fort Lee Community Library invites you to join us every third Monday of the month, 5 – 6 pm for our Read 2 Rover hour with Caring Canines of Richmond. Caring Canines is a volunteer therapy dog group that encourages children’s literacy through interaction with certified therapy dogs. While initially created for children, this activity is open to everyone.  The dogs enjoy being read to, shown picture books, or just being petted.  This is a free program and pre-registration is not required.  The Fort Lee Community Library is located on the 2nd floor of the Army Logistics University, Building 12420. Want to learn how to cupid shuffle or just get a little workout through dancing? Join line dancing at the Sports Zone every Wednesday & Friday from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. A variety of line dances will be taught, ranging from soul to country. There will be an instructor there to teach you the latest and greatest line dancing. These lessons are FREE and open to all ages. Bring friends and family! Go all in at the Texas Hold’em Tournaments!  Family and MWR invites you to Texas Hold’em Tournaments at the Sports Zone, Building 3650 on C Avenue.  Tournaments dates are the following:  September 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30(finals). There is a $5 registration fee (one time buy-in each night). Registration is 5:30 p.m. on the scheduled day of the tournament. Come out and meet other archery enthusiasts and learn some of their skills. Fort Lee's Family and MWR Outdoor Recreation will be hosting several 3-D Archery Shoot Competitions in 2014. The last 3-D archery shoot for the 2014 season will be held on September 27. There will be seven divisions of competition on each 3-D Archery Shoot event date. Cost is $10 per adult, $8 per Fort Lee permit holders, $5 per youth(13 – 17 years old) and $3 per cub (12 years old and under). Ready, aim & splatter! Fort Lee’s Family and MWR Outdoor Recreation invites you to play a game of paintball. Rental packages are only $25 for groups of 6 to 9 people. The rental package includes a marker (gun), hopper, CO2 Tank & Fill-ups, mask, loader case & 500 paintballs! All players must be 12 or older to play. Liability waivers must be signed prior to participation. Personal markers are welcome but will be calibrated to field rules.   Paintball is open Monday through Friday, by appointment only. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more. Bring your unit or co-workers out for a fun outdoor team activity. For weekend play, please call Outdoor Recreation for availability. Family and MWR Sports invites you to join our weekly fitness classes. Weekly fitness classes include Aerobics, Boot Camp, INSANITY, Spinning, Spin Intervals, Yoga (Iyengar), Yogaworks (Vinyasa), Zumba, Zumba Toning and Workout With Weights (WWW) in the House of Pain. Classes are generally $4 per class unless otherwise noted. A fitness card may be purchased for most classes. Fitness cards are $20 for a10-class punch card. WWW in the House of Pain is a FREE class, however, you must be at least 18 years of age and complete a Microfit Fitness Assessment prior to attending class. Yoga (Iyengar) is FREE for Active Duty Soldiers and Spouses of deployed Soldiers. Classes may be cancelled due to inclement weather or if minimum class participation levels are not achieved. You must be 16 years of age and an eligible Family and MWR fitness facility patron to attend fitness classes with the exception of WWW in the House of Pain (You must be 18 years of age).
