Fort Lee Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation presents the 20th annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 29 from 5 - 10 p.m. at The Lee Club. The Lee Club is located on the corner of Mahone Avenue and Battle Drive (Bldg 9009 Battle Drive).  Cost to attend the event is $7. Children 12 and under will be admitted at no charge. German food and beverages can be purchased at the event. Tickets will be sold at the Leisure Travel Office located inside the Warrior Zone. Schenicklefritz and the Oompahs will perform authentic German music all night and Schuhplattler und Gebirgstrachten Erhaltungsverein Hirschjager Dancers will perform authentic German folk dances from 6 - 10 p.m. Children will enjoy the inflatable games located in our KidZone (KIdZone tickets can be purchased for $1 each to be used towards games). The ACS Army Family Action Plan Program is hosting its annual conference October 18 - 19. A special closing ceremony will take place on October 19, 4 - 5:30 p.m. inside the Memorial Chapel Sanctuary. The Cardinal Gold Club has rescheduled the Greenskeeper Revenge Tournament for Saturday, October 22; 9:00 a.m. shotgun start. Sidestep the water hose, lawn mower and backhoe at this popular event. Improve your fitness and meet new parents when you participate in the Strength Performance Center's new program, Stroller Fit. in the Stroller pushers are invited to meet at the Strength Performance Center at 9 a.m. on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday (except on those days which fall on a Federal holiday) to depart as a group on a healthy 3.5 mile stroll around the Fort Lee. Learn to perform over 30 suspension training exercises at the TRX Suspension & Rip Training Classes at the Strength Performance Center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 12:00 - 12:45 p.m. Suspension Training develops your strength by incorporating movements designed to challenge your back, shoulders, chest, hips, legs and core. Monday's session focuses on the lower body; Wednesday's session focuses on the upper body and Friday's session focusses on the core. Classes are free. Space is limited; pre-registration is required. Family and MWR Bowling Center invites all youth to join the Youth Bowling League. The Youth Bowling League is 9:30 a.m. on Saturdays, September through May. Youth may sign up at the Bowling Center now. The league starts on September 17 and is open to all eligible family members ages 6 and up. USBC registration fee is $20 and league dates are free. Army Community Services' Family Advocacy Program hosts FREE monthly Anger Management & Stress Management classes to the Fort Lee community. Anger Management is a one session class that provides attendees with the necessary skills to help evaluate, understand and control their anger. Classes are held 12 - 1 p.m. every first Tuesday of the month. Stress Management is a one session class that helps attendees identify stressors and symptoms of stress, as well as, learn how to select and implement skills to overcome various stressors. Classes are held 12 -1 p.m. every third Tuesday of the month. Participants who complete attendance to a Stress or Anger Management class will receive free admission to one Yoga fitness class held at MacLaughlin Fitness Center. Leisure Travel Services (LTS) is open for service in the Warrior Zone (Building 3650 on C Avenue). LTS offers discounted vacation packages and world class cruises. Army Community Services’ Financial Readiness Program will host free classes throughout the month. Join us on November 10, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. as we discuss “Surviving the Holidays - Financially.” Finally on November 22, we will wrap up our year of free community classes with our last class, "Developing a Spending Plan." Fort Lee's Family and MWR Auto Crafts Shop is here to service you minor auto needs. This is a self-help auto repair facility that allows authorized patrons to perform minor repairs to their vehicles. There are seven bay spaces, four vehicle lifts, tools and a trained instructor on hand to provide assistance. You can get an oil change, rent bay space & equipment and get your tires changed & balanced. Cost varies per service. The Auto Crafts Shop is located in Building 9035 on Battle Drive. Family and MWR Sports invites you to join our weekly fitness classes. Weekly fitness classes include Aerobics, Boot Camp, Core/Cardio, CrossFit (in the Post Field House), High Intensity Training (HIIT), House of Pain, Pilates & Yoga, Spinning, Spinning/Strength, Yoga (Iyengar) and Zumba. Classes are generally $4 per class unless otherwise noted. A fitness card may be purchased for most classes. Fitness cards are $20 for a10-class punch card. House of Pain is a FREE class, however, you must be at least 18 years of age and complete a Microfit Fitness Assessment prior to attending class. Yoga (Iyengar) is FREE for Active Duty Soldiers and Spouses of deployed Soldiers. Classes may be cancelled due to inclement weather or if minimum class participation levels are not achieved. You must be 16 years of age and an eligible Family and MWR fitness facility patron to attend fitness classes with the exception of House of Pain (You must be 18 years of age). The Family and MWR Fort Lee Community Library invites you to join us every second Tuesday of the month, from 5:30 – 6:30 pm for our Read 2 Rover hour with Caring Canines of Richmond. Come out and enjoy an evening of reading with, or showing picture books to, certified therapy dogs from Caring Canines. Caring Canines is an all-volunteer therapy dog group that encourages children’s literacy through interaction with the dogs. Open to all ages, come by and pet the dogs. This is a free program.
