The Cardinal Golf Club hosts Hump Day Scrambles every Wednesday through September 23, 5:30 p.m. shotgun start. Singles and twosomes will be paired together to make four-person scramble teams. Looking forward to taking a nice dip in the pool? Battle Drive Pool opens May 23 through September 7. Battle Drive Pool is free for ages 3 and under. Daily pass rates are $3, Monthly passes rates are $25 - $60 and Season passes rates are $55 - $100. Pool passes are available for purchase starting May 1. |3-D Archery Shoots 2015 Schedule
Come out and meet other archery enthusiasts and learn some of their skills. Fort Lee's Family and MWR Outdoor Recreation will be hosting several 3-D Archery Shoot Competitions in 2015. The 3-D archery shoots will be held March 21, *April 25 & 26, May 23, **June 28, July 25, August 29 and September 26. There will be seven divisions of competition on each 3-D Archery Shoot event date. Cost is $10 per adult, $8 per Fort Lee permit holders, $5 per youth(13 – 17 years old) and $3 per cub (12 years old and under). |Kayaking on the Appomattox
Fort Lee's Family and MWR Outdoor Recreation Center invites you to go Kayaking on the Appomattox River! This little unknown local waters sports treasure is sure to get your heart rate pumping while viewing some of the most historic and natural waterways and lands of the old south. Layout and route of the kayaking trip will be provided by Outdoor Recreation. Participants must register two days prior to the day of the event. The 2015 Kayaking schedule is as follows; May 13 & 27, June 10 & 24, July 8 & 22, August 5 & 19 and September 2 & 16. All equipment will be supplied at Roslyn Landing upon arrival. The ACS Survivor Outreach Services observes Memorial Day by honoring and remembering our Fallen in a small ceremony of remembrance. The families of each fallen Service Member are given a butterfly that will be released in memory of their loved one. |Movies on the Fairway - Featuring "Paddington"
The Cardinal Golf Club kicks off a summer of family films with an outdoor showing of "Paddington" on Friday, May 29. The movie will be screened at dusk (approximately 8:20 p.m.) on the golf course lawn along A Avenue on the last Friday night of the month, May - August. |Trap & Skeet Range 2015 Events
Be a spectator or join in on the fun. Throughout the year, Family and MWR Outdoor Recreation hosts several shoots. Most activities are registered or either non-registered Shoots. In order to attend registered shoots you must be a member of NSSA (National Skeet Shooting Association) or ATA (Amateur Trapshooting Association). Skeet and Trap shoots are registered shoots. Over the next few months, Skeet shoots will take place on April 25 - 26, May 2 - 3, June 6 - 7, July 25 - 26, August 8 - 9 and September 19 - 20. There will be five Trap shoots in the upcoming months; April 26, May 31, June 28, July 26 and August 30. Fun shoots and PVA (Paralyzed Veterans of America)/Disabled Veterans shoots, non-registered shoots, are open to the general public. Fun Shoots are held every 3rd Sunday, October - March. Do you like creating 2D and 3D art work? Let your creative mind flow and get a chance to win prizes for your talents. Enter your work into the 2015 U.S. Army Arts & Crafts Contest starting June 1. Submit your best ceramics, digital art, drawings, wood, prints, fibers, water base painting, oil base painting, glass, metals/jewelry, 2D or 3D projects. There is no contest entry free. |Learn to Water Ski
Fort Lee's Family and MWR Outdoor Recreation invites you to learn how to water ski. Water ski lessons/sessions are open to novice to experts. Sessions/Lessons will cover wakeboarding, kneeboarding, barefooting, Two-skis, slalom & more! Sessions/Lessons are available Tuesdays & Thursdays, June 2 - August 27. The time that lessons/sessions are available are the following: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., 1 - 4 p.m. or 5 - 8 p.m. The water ski launch site is the Appomattox Small Boar Harbor. Start your summer with a slam dunk! Family and MWR Sports department will begin Summer Basketball Intramurals on June 17. |Learn to Swim
Fort Lee Family and MWR wants to help you float into the summer by learning how to swim. You are never too mature or too young to learn effective swimming techniques. There will be three class sessions this summer, June 15 - 25, July 6 - 16 and July 27 – August 6. In order to take lessons you must be at least 5 years of age. The Family and MWR Fort Lee Community Library will kick off its annual summer reading program on June 23. The U.S. Army Installation Management Command presents the 2015 U.S. Army Soldier Show "outdoor performance" at Williams Stadium on July 8. This year’s production, “We Serve” explores the foundational elements of what it means to serve, in and out of uniform, as well as how the U.S. in return serves them. This 90-minute production includes modern songs, current hits, vibrant costuming, exciting choreography and spectacular visuals. Child, Youth & School (CYS) Services has several immediate openings in full day child care for preschool age children. The Part Day Preschool program also has openings in both its AM and PM sessions as well as its 2-day and 3-day programs. The Family and MWR Fort Lee Community Library invites you to join us every third Tuesday of the month, 5 – 6 pm for our Read 2 Rover hour with Caring Canines of Richmond. Caring Canines is a volunteer therapy dog group that encourages children’s literacy through interaction with certified therapy dogs. While initially created for children, this activity is open to everyone. The dogs enjoy being read to, shown picture books, or just being petted. Ready, aim & splatter! Fort Lee’s Family and MWR Outdoor Recreation invites you to play a game of paintball. Rental packages are only $25 for groups of 6 to 9 people. The rental package includes a marker (gun), hopper, CO2 Tank & Fill-ups, mask, loader case & 500 paintballs! All players must be 12 or older to play. Liability waivers must be signed prior to participation. Personal markers are welcome but will be calibrated to field rules. Paintball is open Monday through Friday, by appointment only. |Fitness Classes Weekly Schedule
Family and MWR Sports invites you to join our weekly fitness classes. Weekly fitness classes include Aerobics, Boot Camp, Core/Cardio, CrossFit (in the Post Field House), High Intensity Training (HIIT), House of Pain, Pilates & Yoga, Spinning, Spinning/Strength, Yoga (Iyengar) and Zumba. Classes are generally $4 per class unless otherwise noted. A fitness card may be purchased for most classes. Fitness cards are $20 for a10-class punch card. House of Pain is a FREE class, however, you must be at least 18 years of age and complete a Microfit Fitness Assessment prior to attending class. Yoga (Iyengar) is FREE for Active Duty Soldiers and Spouses of deployed Soldiers. Classes may be cancelled due to inclement weather or if minimum class participation levels are not achieved. You must be 16 years of age and an eligible Family and MWR fitness facility patron to attend fitness classes with the exception of House of Pain (You must be 18 years of age).
